Workshop in Hochschule Detmold
Today, we woke up at 4 O’clock so early, in order to visit Hochschule Detmold to have workshop. We drove one small bus and a Prof.’s car. From Hochschule Darmstadt Prof. Tom Philipps and 9 students joined. Until Detmold, it took for 3 and half an hour.
At first, we listened to the presentation from some Professors about their University and this project. We almost fell asleep....

HK 時代遅れというのは、見栄えのためのデザインですか？ JD ええ、そうです。ロンドンの ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アート（RCA：Royal College of Art）でわたしは学長を務めていますが、ここではいまはもう工業デザイナーの育成は行っていません。 HK 本当ですか？ JD ええ。工業デザインの技術者は育成していますが。もはや工業デザインは、ひとつの独立した職業ではなく、エンジニアが工業デザインについても学ぶ時代なのです。デザインはエンジニアリングの一部となっています。我が社にも、製品の外観を決めることを専門とする人はいません。デザインはエンジニアリングの一環としてエンジニアが行っています。ダイソンには専任の工業デザイナーがいないんです。
